  • I was transfered from taree hospital to john hunter hospital after a work place injury my c/5 6 disk had compressed on my spinal cord i was in so much pain had loss of movement on right side of body i had ct in taree had mri once i arrived at john hunter on dr ferchs advice which confirmed damage to spinal cord sent to ward where dr ferch came to see me said i needed to have operation to fuse disk piece of bone would be taken from my hip to replace piece that had snaped off during surgery dr ferch found piece of bone had pierced my spinal cord i had fluid leaking out i woke from surgery to have slight movement back in my right side which recovered over coming days and has continued to improve i am so greatfull to dr ferch and his tram for fixing me they are a wonderful team and came to see me every morning to check on my progress while i was in john hunter i was then transfered back to forster for rehab as i had a nurapathic bladder not emptying properly due to nerve damage i have had a 6 month and now a 12 month review with dr ferch i am for ever greatfull for his expertise care and friendship i could hardly walk move my right side before my operation you saved my life i am so glad i was sent to you thankyou to you and your staff that where there on 6/5/2016 and to your wonderful ladies in your office in smith st that are so caring and understanding and have given me the support to help me through this very tough time i still self cathitate to empty my bladder and have whats known as browns sequards syndrome numbness on left side of body due to right side of spinal cord being compressed iam so lucky thank you as my outcome could have been much worse if not for having such a great surgeon and team you are the best.Thankyou.xx.
